I can't believe that they made a sequel to this. It needs to be seen to be believed. What do you guys think?

All right, so I don't care much for a lot of what Adam Sandler has been putting out lately. I can appreciate that his family friendly formula is working for him, but I'd take Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore any day over this new stuff. Anyways, the trailer for "Jack and Jill" just dropped and it involves some crossdressin a-la nutty professor where Sandler plays both Jack and Jill. I am happy to say that it looks promising if not still somewhat in keeping with the family friendly thing. Take a look! A little katie holmes in it too.
So that's what I got for yas for the week end! There are two creative works entries on the way! So keep an eye out for next week. It's going to be good. -Josh Here's the Trailer for the new entry in the underworld series. I must say, I can only remember the first one but it seems to me it was a fairly solid watch. Plus I know that a lot of others would be excited about this new upcoming addition. To its credit - it looks decent. Take a peek! So she was held captive for some 12 years. Thankfuly, when she woke up, a leather suit was kept close by in glass cabinet just in case she needed it!
What ever happened to having to search and steal that stuff. I give this Martial arts classic an 8.5/10. This Kung Fu classic is directed by Chang Che (one-armed swordsman (another classic!)) and brought to us by the Shaw brothers studio (the next time you watch Kill Bill, pay attention to the music and screen after the Miramax banner hits. THAT’s the Shaw Brothers theme and logo.) “The 5 deadly Venoms” claim is that it inspired “generations of action films, rap music (There is some reference of this movie in the works of the Wu-Tang Clan), and pop culture” as per the blu ray back jacket. The main story is good, where a dying a master of the poison clan sends his last pupil out to uncover 5 of his most deadly students. Each was trained in a specific Kung fu Style and the students are hiding under fake identities. Don’t be fooled into thinking there are some twists involved here. Though there may be an attempt at misdirection, most of those twists are easy to spot. The movie would probably have done better to scrap the omniscient narrative if they wanted to keep more guess work in. That aside, this flick is a classic not because it meant to keep you guessing (and failed) but because it had great action, kung fu, camaraderie, and to an extent, entertaining voice dubbing and sometimes overly dramatic performances. Some will be put off by the impossible air acrobatics a-la crouching tiger, hidden dragon. Two things here though: 1) you don’t see it often and 2) in the context of this movie, it adds to the fun! Picking this up and watching it with an open mind will likely be decently spent free time. Watch out for the last five way fight at the end, it's great! A little long in my opinion, but great. Also Watch out for Pupil #5: Toad’s iron skin! What happens to Toad is pretty brutal. Lost: Season 3 gets a 7/10...
Let’s say you ate Papaya for the first time and that thing was so delicious the experience stuck with you. Well. What usually happens is that you’d be more likely to endure tasting several nasty Papayas in search of that great experience again than let’s say, someone who had tasted the stuff for the first time and only had a mediocre or poor experience. THAT’s how I feel about lost... and in season 3 it’s frustrating. The great experiences are spaced further apart then in season 2 and to top it off they actually have a filler episode! Overall, there is less sense of dread and less mystery. Instead, there is more island politics and Jack-Kate-Sawyer Love Triangle. Thankfully there is some great stuff here, like Sun and Jin character development through flashbacks. Also, Hurley has some good moments in this season too. I’m hoping to get back to the great Papaya I had experience in season one in the next season... Otherwise I get the sneaking suspicion I’m going to feel guilty about all that time I spent watching this. I'm a little late on this one, but just in case you haven't seen it yet, I've included the 2nd Trailer for "Immortals" below. This Epic looking trailer is for a movie made by Tarsem Singh (The cell, and the Fall). If you've watched any of those other two movies, you know that he loves the visuals. Awesome visuals I might add. Check out the epic below Not too shabby eh? And of course they had to put in the "from the producers of 300". Looks good. But will it be able to deliver? Also... Lovin gold mask guy. pretty bad ass.
FYI -" The fall" took about four years to make, was made with mostly Tarsems own funding and was shot in over 20 countries. The visuals were amazing So now with Harry Potter over, ol Dan has all the time in the world to devote to try and shake off his image as boy wizard. This Horror entry looks like a pretty good attempt if I do say so myself. Take a looksee! No wizard magic there. Looks like they're going for creepy too.
also... thought for sure they were going to go with the big sound that punctuated that bit of silence at the end... was pleased they went for something a little more subtle. -Josh The Orphanage gets a 7.5/10. It was good but not “this year’s pan’s labyrinth” as it is marketed on the back jacket of the DVD. It does share some of the same dark content with Pan’s labyrinth but this one’s more of a ghost story then a fairy tale, except for at the end, when it weirdly takes on more of the ladder in a way that could certainly spark some controversy. It’s spooky and some of the images are bound to make some squirm, but it definitely doesn’t have a haunting after taste in a sense that you’ll be afraid of the dark for a bit after watching it. Also, for those who don’t know, the movie only has English subtitles. I must say though that you don’t miss too much trying to read what they say and watch at the same time! Watch out for that twist ending... The one about what happened to Simon... I didn’t see it coming. So this is finally up. Been waiting for a look at this and it doesn't look to shabby. NPH is back too! Lost: Season 2 continues with the mystery and though we do wonder about the hatch and that moving smoke, it deals more closely with the enigmatic “others”. More character development here, but sometimes with less heart (I didn’t care for the direction writers and actor took with a lost and brooding John Loch but I can understand why they took us there(anyone else feel that way?)).
An interesting element is you can expect some of the characters to expand on what they think the island and the events that transpire on the island are all about. To mix things up, there is a new addition of characters to the Lost line up. This of course means, that while fostering new and interesting group dynamics, it means less face time with some of the original survivors. Look out for Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje who plays newcomer “Mr. Eko” with a frightening intensity. There are some predictable story twists in this one. The plot is ok, but I feel that it’s those few great character development pieces that truly shine and are what makes this season engaging. There is definitely some excellent acting and just enough intrigue by the season’s finally that if you weren’t too stuck in the quagmire of questions then you’ll likely easily be sucked into the next season. |
