I want to read a story

"The Avengers" are really coming together.

So both Captain America and Thor obtained decent reviews. Of course, Iron man was well received and got a sequel in before the avengers even came together in their movie.

For those who didn't get a chance to go see Captain America, there was a bridging clip to the avengers movie at the end. Yahoo has got the clip up now. I have included the video just below.
You know, beyond being a great idea to make some extra money and, as well, testing to see audiences’ reception to the avenger members, it might also work out excellently for the avenger movie. In that, we already put in some time with the avenger characters (some more than others) and are familiar with some of their back story. Because of this, it may be more likely for us to connect with those characters. Trying to establish each individual avenger as unique and with some depth might have been difficult to do otherwise.

While I'm still uncertain about how "The Avengers" will turn out, I will admit that now I believe it has some promise. I look forward to its first real trailer.

The anticipated release date is for May 4th/2012

"Dream House" Trailer Lets us in on a significant plot twist... Still looks good.

7/28/2011

It's been on the internet a while already, but in case you haven't checked it out yet, here it is below. Dream house is a psychological thriller (maybe even part horror!) starring Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts. The Trailer lets us in on what could have been a significant plot twist... albeit a very familiar one these days... But the story still looks good. With that little secret out of the way, I wonder where they'll go with it.

What You Should Be Watching This Week End!

7/28/2011

No plans this week end? Want to pick up a funny movie but don’t know what to watch? Let me suggest something for you...

This week end, pick up: “Billy Madison”
These days, Adam Sandler has a familiar family friendly formula. Turn the clock back to 1995 however and you’ll find a special kind of immature, crazy, lowbrow type humour that’s just simply hilarious.  Oh Billy Madison...There are imaginary penguins, funny kids, odd teachers, an excellent end academic decathlon between Billy and Eric Gordon for top level involvement in Billy’s father’s hotel business. Oh, and who can forget the O’doyles? O’doyles rule! Right?

Can you believe that this sophisticated movie got negative reviews on its release? Today it only holds a 46% at rotten tomatoes, and 16 out of 100 at Metacritic...  Maybe it had something to do with a certain goofy argument over which is better – shampoo or conditioner... Thing about this flick is. It’s that it’s not really smart. It knows that. It’s a no-brainer. Just plain ol uninhibited fun.

Movie critics aside, those of us who love a good laugh and feel that this movie’s comedic tastes are not below us can usually agree that this Sandler masterwork is a comedy classic. It made over 25 million dollars worldwide according to wiki. It helped highlight Sandler as an icon and was played over and over again in high school and college students’ movie players everywhere.

So this week end, earn back father’s respect and revisit elementary school on up with Billy. You’ll be glad you did.

Oh, and don’t forget to call up Danny Mcgrath (Steve Buschemi) and tell him you feel sorry about what happened in high school.

So I was scanning youtube looking for some good Dumb and Dumber clips for an article when I came across a dumb and dumber /inception mash up apparently made by a gentleman named Andrew Fischer of nurv.com. It's a pretty clever little piece.

I've included the link below. click through to it, you won't regret it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLDx-BPgxxA

Now wasn't that great! Make you wanna watch dumb and dumber again? It was an excellent movie!

Harry: What's her last name? I'll look it up.
Lloyd: you know, I don't really recall. Starts with an S! Let's see. Swim? Swammi? Slippy? Slappy? Swenson? Swanson?
Harry: Maybe it's on the briefcase.
Lloyd: Oh, yeah! It's right here. *looks at manufacturers lable* Samsonite! I was way off! I knew it started with an S, though.

soo good

The "Battleship" Movie emerges... The one like that Hasbro game

7/27/2011

Ever hear tell that they were planning to make the battleship game concept into a movie somehow? Ever wonder what that would look like? Well now you can find out. And like many movies these days... it's got some Liam Neeson in it.

THIS link for the website:
http://battleshipmovie.com/#

...You have to see it to believe it. It actually looks ok at first but then gets ridiculous with the alient spaceship discovery... suddenly; they're restricted to movement within a force field. Tracking is down... There's even an overhead shot of battleships on the playing field.

I'm not making it up.

...In other news, there are plans to make a monopoly movie (also not making it up)

On Francis Ford Coppola’s horror flick “Twixt”

7/26/2011

For those who didn’t hear, Francis Ford Coppola (Director: The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, Dracula) was at the comic con 2011.

At his appearance he spoke about innovation related to the movie watching experience. This included some discussion about 3D of course. Having watched some footage of his appearance, I am quoting him as saying this about what the future in cinema has in store for us:

“...It’s just that cinema, movies are so young, I mean, barely 100 years old. How dare anyone think that all it’s got under its sleeve is some more 3D, where the ticket prices go up. Cinema has many more surprises that you and your children will invent because it’s at the beginning of this expression of image and sound in many ways”

Coppola goes on to contrast cinema’s youth with the maturity of music or theatre, speaking broadly to the change the ladder art forms had experienced as they grew.

What’s exciting is that his talks about innovations was a backdrop to his announcement of an audience driven cinematic experience to go hand in hand with a planned tour of his movie “Twixt” about a month or so before the actual opening of the flick. He broadcasted that he’d go to each venue on this tour with live music and offer up an experience tailored to each specific audience. That is that, his team would feel out the crowd and alter the movie on the fly (for example, making a scene longer or shorter) according to Audience atmosphere, not completely unlike what was suggested was a part of the role of a conductor at the opera, at who’s discretion, while feeling out the audience, can make some adjustments to music.

I’ve included a link to a clip of him at comic con saying it himself:

The Movie “Twixt”, According to IMDB is about a writer who gets tangled in a murder mystery involving a young girl. From the shots I’ve seen at IMDB, the atmosphere in the movie appears intriguing. The look: almost gothic. It stars Val Kilmer (Heat, Top gun) and Elle Fanning (the curious case of Benjamin button, super 8). Check out the synopsis and shots at IMDB at:

Keep a watch out for the Trailer. For certain, somehow scoring seats to an experience like the one outlined above would be something to see!
