"Camera Obscura" is The Horror Webseries That Will Keep You Up Tonight

Damn it’s hard to find a good horror series. I was pleased to have come across the “Camera Obscura” series which has been floating around the internet for a while. Episode one is below:

My first impression is that I was in for some Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Maybe something like “Supernatural” even . Both had a pretty solid following in their day. I tended towards the latter series but it never held my interest.

This. This is shot pretty well. Sure it looks like a Webseries, but it has some pretty good production value. Did you see the demon with the crow beaks for eyes? good stuff. And the acting isn’t all that bad either. It even had that nice little bit at the end that leaves you intrigued.

Keep watching. Here’s Episode 2 (make sure it’s dark out when you watch it):
What the hell was that? I gotta say, great job on that entity slinking down the hallway the way it did. It successfully gave me the creeps. Want more? Click through to the Youtube channel and take a look at the rest. With bite sized quality vids, the other 18 vids are definitely worth your time.

From the DaywaltFearFactory channel on Youtube, it’s a “... 20 part demon hunting web series written and Directed by Drew Daywalt and Produced by MWG Entertainment and Jeff Farley.”

Scared yet?

Lost: Season 3 Review

Lost: Season 3 gets a 7/10...

Let’s say you ate Papaya for the first time and that thing was so delicious the experience stuck with you. Well. What usually happens is that you’d be more likely to endure tasting several nasty Papayas in search of that great experience again than let’s say, someone who had tasted the stuff for the first time and only had a mediocre or poor experience.

THAT’s how I feel about lost... and in season 3 it’s frustrating. The great experiences are spaced further apart then in season 2 and to top it off they actually have a filler episode!

Overall, there is less sense of dread and less mystery. Instead, there is more island politics and Jack-Kate-Sawyer Love Triangle.

Thankfully there is some great stuff here, like Sun and Jin character development through flashbacks. Also, Hurley has some good moments in this season too.

I’m hoping to get back to the great Papaya I had experience in season one in the next season... Otherwise I get the sneaking suspicion I’m going to feel guilty about all that time I spent watching this.

Lost: Season 2 Review

Lost: Season 2 continues with the mystery and though we do wonder about the hatch and that moving smoke, it deals more closely with the enigmatic “others”. More character development here, but sometimes with less heart (I didn’t care for the direction writers and actor took with a lost and brooding John Loch but I can understand why they took us there(anyone else feel that way?)).

An interesting element is you can expect some of the characters to expand on what they think the island and the events that transpire on the island are all about.

To mix things up, there is a new addition of characters to the Lost line up. This of course means, that while fostering new and interesting group dynamics, it means less face time with some of the original survivors. Look out for Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje who plays newcomer “Mr. Eko” with a frightening intensity.

There are some predictable story twists in this one. The plot is ok, but I feel that it’s those few great character development pieces that truly shine and are what makes this season engaging. There is definitely some excellent acting and just enough intrigue by the season’s finally that if you weren’t too stuck in the quagmire of questions then you’ll likely easily be sucked into the next season.

Lost, Season One Review. It's Awesome

This is the start of an addiction. I can feel it.

Lost, Season one gets a 9/10 on scale. Sure, it loses some steam trading plot development for character development at times, but it’s solid none the less.

It’s tense, tragic, mysterious, entertaining, and weird.  Weird to the point where it may be off-putting to some. Watch the first several episodes and you’ll see what I mean. Thankfully the Lost staff decided to go with “less is more” in the way of computer graphics and relies more on suggestion.

The Lost story is complex to say the least. It generated far more questions than it does answer them, by the end of the season, leaving so many loose ends that it’s hard to remember them all. Thankfully, pre-show recaps help. Miss some important details though and I can see why some can get... well... Lost.

If you’re gonna watch it. Make sure to give it the attention it deserves. It can be a consuming experience if you let it. Mostly, the acting is good, the score is very attractive and the mystery will keep you hooked.

Definitely watch out for when Ethan is around – It’s a great story piece you won’t soon forget.
