Before I get into some of today's posts (keep your eyes on the site for some news, challenges and competitions), I wanted to throw a little recognition your way. Yes, you. Thank you for a being a part of the journey. The site's come a long way since its creation. It's been great fun, hard work, and quite the learning experience but frankly, it wouldn't be still going without your support. So thank you, for your support, in whatever shape or form - Be it following me on twitter or giving a 'like' to the Facebook Page. Be it having come by the site the one time or many. Maybe you bought my book, "Counting the dead" or simply threw down a comment on one of my posts. All of that is what keeps a site like mine or anyone else's really going. So Thanks.

"Counting the Dead" is my first short story to become available on Amazon.com. It was launched May 1rst/2012. It is priced at an attractive 0.99$ and is a great entry in my works. Visit the amazon.com website to see it for yourself. It's as creepy as the best of my other short stories. See for yourself by clicking on the picture below to be brought to Amazon.com Any help spreading the word about the new release would be much appreciated. Thanks for all the support.
- Josh The Dark Opera has undergone another change. have you noticed? In this stage of development The Dark Opera has dropped the “Weebly” from its web address and is now just TheDarkOpera.com. The site has come a long way since the very first post on June 19th/2011. With the exciting first anniversary coming up, you can be sure that there are other interesting developments on the way. Another of which will be a short story entitled “Counting the dead” that will hopefully be available on amazon by the end of this coming week. The Tag line is "You'll never be more afraid to die..." So get ready for some creepy! If you hadn’t already noticed, there are also two giveaways that are going on right now on the site. The first is the “what’s in the hat?” Giveaway. The prize is a 30$ gift certificate that I will send to the winner. All you have to do is find and like the Dark Opera Facebook page and the post about the giveaway... that’s it! you’ll be entered to win the gift card that you can use to buy all sorts of cool stuff on amazon. The second of the giveaways is for twitter followers. All you have to do is follow the Dark Opera on Twitter and tweet “I love Zombies @ TheDarkOpera” and easy as that, you get entered in the draw for the Mammoth book of Zombie comics. You can enter both giveaways if you want! I can count entrants to these giveaway on one hand so your chances are pretty good at winning if you want to enter. Big Thanks for all the support by those who visit this site! -Josh That’s right; The Dark Opera Marquee is now home to over 100 posts! Topics range from posts on movie trailers to articles like “5 reasons why you should own a Mannequin” to “Tips on Goal Setting”.
Help us celebrate by spreading the word that the Marquee section has grown up and filled out! Take some time to skim our earlier posts for little gems you might have missed. In case you haven’t noticed, the site has been bulking up in other domains as well, with some great new content on the way. Thanks for sticking with us! And here’s to 100 more! - Josh The Dark Opera
Creativity with an Affinity for Darkness Here's to just about 6 months into "The Dark Opera's" life! We've seen some entries in the creative work section from poems to short stories to an online novel. Marquee posts have seen reviews, trailers, news, commentary, and resources. With nearly half a year under our belts and in light of the new year, it's time we take a look at what is working and what isn't. Questions arise like where are we headed? To be sure, we're still just coming out the gates as far as the Dark Opera community. For those who have come to visit, Thank you. For those who are new, welcome. Our vision, while broad, I believe is important. It is that this website will become a go to place to learn about, celebrate and inspire creativity, not just for those who are confident that they are creative, or even those who might reluctantly admit it, but also for those who have creativity inside that they have yet to discover and explore. Imagination is also an important subject and focus here, especially as part of creative works shown at this site. While "Begin" as a tag line is an important reminder urging you to do what it is that's inside you; we believe that our new slogan: "Creativity with an affinity for darkness" better defines our website. Our hope is that the site content will beg that you do what it is we earlier spelled out...that is...begin... Joshua Paquin |
