Viewers are invited into the lives of families with both similar and different family issues. Some of these individuals are at different stages in parenthood with some younger kids, while others’ kids are in their teenage years. People with kids will more readily be able to connect with this movie, but those without needn’t worry because the overall content is relatable, there are good laughs and there is even commentary on many other life issues that affect us all!
Parenthood is considered by some to be a classic. It’s worth a watch to be sure, however, because of its age, it could use an update. While some of the characters’ thoughts and struggles remain true to today, the situations, as well as present day issues (particularly involving kids and technology) may make an updated piece like this more relevant. That aside, good movie.
Watch out for a young Keanu Reeves and Joaquin Phoenix (I didn’t even recognise him). Also, Steve Martin is funny as ever, though not as good as in planes, trains and automobiles.
